Bird Species:
When Taken:
This was taken in January of 2009.
Where Taken:
This was taken under a feeder in my backyard in Carthage, Missourie. I had a booming population of all sorts of birds that spring. It was fun to watch the young being fed and taught where to find food for themselves and even how to use a bird bath.
Advice
- I put feeders of different kinds out in different areas of the yard.
- I used different kinds of feed to attract different birds.
- If you put too many feeders out, it can lead to overpopulation and disease.
- I also have a "limb pile" I leave for shelter for the birds. The shy ones love it.
Melissa Mayntz, Birding / Wild Birds Guide, says:
This is a very touching photo, and even though house sparrows are invasive birds in North America, it can still be a privilege to see one of their families.
