This is one of four blue jays that come screaming at me for peanuts. They sit on my deck rail and I open the patio door and give them some. This is a brave one as he came flying at me for it.
They will go to the feeder for the sunflower seed but in the morning and evening they want their peanuts.
Tips and Tricks
- Always have a good stash of seed and nuts in good solid containers so that the squirrels or any rodents can't get in them.
- Store your containers in a garage or shed.
- Keep your feeders clean and full as well as the ground underneath.
Melissa Mayntz, Birding / Wild Birds Guide, says:
This is a lovely and perky blue jay! Peanuts are one of these birds' favorite foods, but yes, they'll enjoy suet, sunflower seeds, and fruit pieces from feeders as well.
