Altricial Birds

Altricial birds are born naked and blind, and are completely dependent on their parents for care.

OakleyOriginals
Definition:

(adjective) Describes birds that hatch naked and blind, lacking any feathers, though some may have a very small degree of preliminary down and they will begin to grow feathers within a few days. These birds are completely dependent on their parents for food, warmth and protection, and often when newly hatched they are unable to move. These birds need prolonged, intensive care before leaving the nest.

Altricial birds include most songbirds, such as American robins, northern cardinals and blue jays.
