GreenBird Nesting Material Box

Easy to assemble and packed with natural Alpaca fleece (included with kit), the GreenBird Nesting Material Box is a safe and easy way to offer nesting materials to birds. Even a non-crafty birder can easily assemble the hexagonal-shaped Nesting Material Box from GreenBird in just minutes. No glue, staples, tape or other materials are required for assembly, and the illustrated instructions are easy to follow. The pre-creased sections of the box fold easily to create the container to hold the included Alpaca fleece, which is then stuffed through the round ports for quick filling. The leather cord to complete the assembly is approximately 36 inches long – generous and forgiving with plenty of length for hanging.

Once assembled, the box has three large holes and 24 narrow slits for birds to cling to and access the nesting material, yet the sturdy recycled paper – twice the weight of heavy cardstock – helps protect much of the material from spring rains and moisture to keep it fluffy and attractive to nesting birds. After filling, it is easy to pluck some of the material through the openings to entice birds to gather the fleece. If the box is emptied quickly, it can easily be refilled with other nesting materials such as pet fur, cotton fibers or bits of string.

In keeping with the environmental focus of GreenBird products, the Nesting Material Box has minimal packaging, and that packaging includes facts about wild birds and how to place the nesting box for the best effect. At the end of the nesting season, the box can be safely discarded or composted.
