Backyard birders with fruit trees know that birds can quickly eat all the fruit, but when birds use the same tactic on agricultural crops, the results can be devastating to farmers. According to The Border Mail, an orchardist in Australia is frustrated with cockatoos that have eaten thousands of dollars of his fruit. While he is able to use a scare gun to discourage the birds, local laws and neighbor complaints about the noise restrict when he can use it, and the birds are doing much of their damage at other times.
