Our countdown to Christmas continues with yet another elegant and appropriate bird family.
On the ninth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me... Nine ladies dancing.
Many birds dance - as in courtship dances to woo potential mates - but few are as accomplished as birds in the Podicipedidae family, the grebes. The western grebe, in particular, is well noted for its dancing that includes head dipping, running along the water and more, all performed in unison with a partner.
