The holiday season is often spent with family, and birds have many families to share, no matter what day of Christmas is being celebrated.
On the fourth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me... Four calling birds.
"Calling" birds are best known for their musical vocalizations, and few bird families are more renowned for their vocal talents than the Parulidae family, the warblers. So named because of their warbling songs and lyrical calls, the sounds of these birds is always a welcome gift for birders, no matter what the time of year. Just practice your birding by ear skills, and you'll be surprised at how many Parulidae birds you may hear!
