This week's featured bird is a marathon migrator - the Arctic tern has a roundtrip migration of 25,000 miles each year between its breeding grounds in the Arctic and its non-breeding range in Antarctica. These elegant birds with their long, tapered wings are built for effortless flight and they use their skills well, often hovering to hunt.
Is the Arctic tern on your life list, or do you just wish it was? Share your sightings in the comments!
