This week's featured bird is a chip off the old sparrow block - the chipping sparrow is one of the most widespread and familiar sparrows in North America. While the breeding plumage of this bird, especially the bold chestnut cap, is easily identified, they are more camouflaged in fall, but their curious behavior and distinct calls are recognizable year-round.
