It's time again for Mailbag Monday, when a reader's question is featured with great birding information. This week, Deanna from Pennsylvania asks...
"I just put up bird feeders in my yard, but what should I fill them with? What are the best foods? I haven't had feeders before, but I can't wait to see a lot of birds!"
The idea "if you feed them they will come" is very appropriate for backyard birding. Sunflower seeds, suet and Nyjer are some of the best autumn bird foods, and they will be good for a wide variety of backyard species. Just make sure you aren't offering the worst foods for birds, and your feeders will soon become a popular buffet spot for your new feathered friends!
Whether you are just getting started feeding birds or have other birding-related questions, submit to Mailbag Monday for all the answers!
