Fall is a fun time for birds, and this week's reader question focuses on the mystery of migration. Louisa in Iowa asks...

"I love feeding hummingbirds, and I've had more of them at my feeders in the last month. But when will they migrate? I don't want them to leave!"

Birds migrate at different times, and hummingbirds begin their migration when light levels, climate and available food sources tell them the season is changing and it's time to leave. Just be sure to keep your feeders out for at least two weeks after you've seen the last hummingbird, in case a late straggler needs to refuel along the way!
