This week's featured bird is something to giggle about - the laughing gull really does have a laugh-like call that helps distinguish it from other hooded gulls. The bold breeding pattern of this bird is great to see, and successfully identifying this gull either by sight or sound is sure to bring a smile to any birder's face.

It was on my wish list to add and I had the sheer joy of seeing them when we went to Corpus Christi, TX. They are marvelous birds. OK, they’re not flamboyant in color and plumage but for a gull, they’re pretty special. Wish we had them in Portland (Oregon that is; they do have them in Portland, TX).
