Every Monday a reader's question is featured, and this week Betsy from West Virginia asks...
"My three kids are out of school for the summer now, and I'd like to get them into birding instead of video games. Do you have any suggestions?"
Kids can learn a lot from birding, and summer is a great time to get them interested in birds. A summer bird scavenger hunt can be a fun introduction to birds and birding, or simpler projects such as making a plastic bottle bird feeder can keep the fun right in the backyard. From visiting a local zoo or aviary to see birds or getting started with backyard birding, there are great ways kids (and adults!) can enjoy birds all summer long.
Do you have a birding question to ask? Submit it to Mailbag Monday, or check out the recent question archive to see what other birders are asking!
