A lost duckling got a high tech rescue in Indiana recently. According to FoxNews, several ducklings fell into a sewer grate in West Lafayette, and while most were rescued by police and firefighters, after an hour, one reluctant duckling was still trapped. An onlooker had an idea to use duck quacks to attract the duckling, and one of the police officers used a duck calling app to bring the bird close enough to be rescued.
There are a wide range of birding apps available, from field guides to online games. Not all of them can help baby birds, but if you find a baby bird, do you know what to do, with or without a smartphone?
