This week's featured bird may indeed have a black head, but there's nothing gross about it - the black-headed grosbeak is a colorful and popular bird in western North America. A common summer visitor, this large songbird easily visits feeders, especially if black oil sunflower seeds are available, and it doesn't mind a stop by a berry bush, crabapple tree or bird bath.
