This week's featured bird is instantly familiar to duck fans, and the
mandarin duck is frequently considered one of the world's most beautiful duck species. While the females are camouflaged as many dabbling ducks are, the males have outstanding plumage with bold colors and elaborate feather shapes. Native to east Asia, these birds are also commonly imported worldwide for aviaries, gardens and domestic collections because of their unusual beauty.
