
This week's featured bird can be both familiar and frustrating. The
Carolina chickadee is common in its range in the southeastern United States, but where it overlaps with the black-capped chickadee the two species can be difficult to tell apart. By becoming more familiar with each one, however, birders can learn the subtle traits that distinguish the two different birds.
