New Morning Natural & Organic and the Heritage Hotel are pleased to present Chocolate Underground on February 6 as a benefit to support the programs of the Audubon Center at Bent of the River in Southbury, Connecticut. The event features a decadent dark chocolate infused gourmet menu inspired by Central American cuisine and paired with locally produced wines. Tickets are $65 per person and proceeds will be used for upgrades at the Audubon Center, including making trails wheelchair accessible, installing a new viewing platform and continuing education programs.

The evening's menu will include plantain soup spiced with chilis, a Central American cheese and fruit plate, lime cilantro tilapia, radish mint salad, garlic and chili infused rice, coconut fudge and vegan chocolate truffles, among many other sumptuous selections. Many birds that can be viewed at the center migrate to Central America, and it is hoped that this complementary menu can raise awareness of the importance of sustainable, bird-friendly farming practices throughout the world.

For more information or to purchase tickets, visit NewMorn.com or the Audubon Center at Bent of the River.

Oh man, I’d love to go if I weren’t on the other side of the continent. Love me some vegan truffles, and the other food looks great as well.
