The Howard County Bird Club has announced its annual Youth Birding Essay Contest, according to the Baltimore Sun. The contest is open to Howard County, Maryland, residents between the ages of 9 and 13, and the topic is "My Favorite Bird Watching Experience." Entries must be no longer than 250 words and the deadline is January 31.The winning essay writer will receive a backpack, a pair of Eagle Optic binoculars, a field guide and a one-year membership to the Howard County Bird Club.
