If you’ve got the blues, this week’s the Bird of the Week should bring you a smile: the
eastern bluebird. This stunning bird is fairly common throughout the eastern United States, and is a backyard favorite because of its willingness to nest in birdhouses and nesting boxes. Though populations were once drastically declining because of competition for nesting holes, artificial housing has helped its numbers rebound. Bluebirds are also heralds of spring in the northern parts of their range.

We were so excited to see that both of our bluebird houses were occupied this year. It has been so nice to watch them fly in and out of the houses. One of the males is the largest bluebird I have ever seen!
Beautiful…we have Painted Buntings and Indigo Buntings…is it possible to have Blue Birds in FL during the winter?
